Got a fun announcement as of April 2026: We’re hosting a couple standup comedy shows in our backyard in Austin, TX… Thursday, April 30 and Friday, May 1.

We will take the stage and play some tunes as doors open and remain up on stage during the show to play live walkout music. To wrap up the night, we’ll bang out a full 30-minute set after the comedy show is over. Thee Ancient Asses got to work quickly, recording their 2023 debut album, Shift The Paradigm, with legendary producer Jack Endino putting his magic touch on the raw drum-guitar duo.

On August 19, 2025, Shift The Paradigm was rereleased with brand-new cover art (pictured above) by visionary artist Kait Vicious. Thee Ancient Asses celebrated the release that night with a live performance on the Local Sets ATX show in downtown Austin. That performance was also released as Live on Local Sets ATX on November 26, 2025.

The band was birthed in Southern California at Akshay’s and Jon’s Desert Daze 2022 campsite, just over 14 years after the pair first met as randomly assigned roommates while interning in New York City, pursuing careers unrelated to music.
